Addis Ababa Set To Host Red Sea Diplomatic Youth Conference

The Uplift Initiative Ethiopia is organizing a Red Sea Diplomatic Youth Conference in Addis Ababa. Founder and Director Abubeker Seman stated that the upcoming conference will bring together over 300 young people from Red Sea bordering nations.

The conference's goal is to promote regional peace and cooperation, focusing on the Red Sea's strategic importance and the legitimacy of Ethiopia's pursuit of sea access. He stressed the need for youth engagement to foster understanding of Ethiopia's contributions to its neighbors and the benefits of peaceful resolution to the sea access issue.

Uplift Initiative Ethiopia, known for its youth empowerment work, sees this as crucial given Ethiopia's reliance on the Red Sea for trade and the impact regional instability has on the country.

Abubeker highlighted the significance of access to both the Nile and the Red Sea for Ethiopia's development and global economic participation, emphasizing that resolving the sea access issue peacefully is vital for the nation's economic and diplomatic future.

He also stressed the need for regional cooperation to address youth migration from the Red Sea region, advocating for shared development initiatives to prevent dangerous migration.

Ultimately, the conference aims to build stronger youth relationships and contribute to lasting peace and prosperity in the Red Sea region reported EPA.
