President Taye Atskeselassie has inaugurated an exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan, highlighting Ethiopia's commitment to environmental protection. The exhibition showcases the country's efforts to combat climate change through green initiatives and other environmental programs.
The 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is currently taking place in Baku.
President Taye emphasized Ethiopia's ongoing work to build a climate-resilient economy, encompassing a range of initiatives. He also stressed the need for the global community to prioritize climate change and provide concrete support to developing nations.
Dr. Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development, stated that Ethiopia is prioritizing green initiatives and afforestation in all its endeavors, including renewable energy production, food security, and tourism development. She highlighted the country's investment of over $40 billion in greening degraded areas.
COP29 provides a platform for countries to share their efforts in tackling climate change and desertification.
