Salamawit Dawit, Director General of the Ethiopian Immigration and Nationality Affairs Agency, stated that the relationship between Ethiopia and Djibouti goes beyond shared border management and is deeply rooted in shared blood.
This statement was made during the 28th Joint Meeting of Border Administrators and Commissioners of Ethiopia and Djibouti, hosted by Ethiopia in Bishoftu.
Salamawit emphasized the need for strengthening the existing economic, social, and security ties between the two nations. She highlighted the significant role both countries play within the IGAD framework.
She further emphasized the long-standing strong relationship between Ethiopia and Djibouti in various sectors, including electricity, infrastructure development, and trade.
Suluman Muamin, Chief Secretary of the Djibouti Ministry of Interior, echoed the sentiment, expressing commitment to strengthening the good relations between Ethiopia and Djibouti. He expressed confidence in achieving shared visions by collaborating on border issues, particularly in strengthening shared infrastructure.
Muamin emphasized the shared goals and vision of both countries, stating that they will work together to ensure mutual benefit through peace, security, and shared development.
The discussion forum focuses on border management, trade relations, and strengthening bilateral ties. High-level officials from the defense, trade, security, and police forces of both countries, along with other stakeholders, are participating in the meeting.
