Ethiopia Makes a Play for the 2029 Africa Cup of Nations!

Ethiopia is throwing its hat in the ring to host the 2029 Africa Cup of Nations, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced last night.

The Prime Minister hosted a star-studded dinner at the Grand Palace for top football officials, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

The event was a who's who of African football, with dignitaries from the UN and AU including Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, former African football stars, were in attendance. It was a clear signal that Ethiopia is serious about bringing the prestigious tournament to its shores.

Prime Minister Abiy, in a gesture of goodwill, presented the national football team jersey to Infantino and Motsepe. In return, Infantino gifted Abiy a football signed with "2029".

Motsepe, impressed by the warm welcome and Ethiopian hospitality, admitted that the country feels like a second home. He promised that CAF will carefully consider Ethiopia's request.

Infantino, meanwhile, praised Ethiopia as the "birthplace of humanity," highlighting the country's deep connection to the roots of everyone.

With its rich history, passionate football fans, and growing infrastructure, Ethiopia is making a strong case to host the 2029 Africa Cup of Nations. The continent is watching to see if this ambitious bid will be successful.
