PM Abiy Hails Historic Moment for Nile River Basin as Agreement Takes Effect

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has hailed today as a historic moment for the Nile River Basin, marking the official entry into force of the Agreement on the Nile River Basin Framework (CFA). 

He has described this achievement as the culmination of years of dedicated work towards equitable and sustainable water management for the region.

This is a day to celebrate our shared commitment to cooperation and the future of the Nile," declared PM Abiy. "The CFA strengthens our bond as a Nile family, ensuring that the management and utilization of our shared water resources benefit all, for the good of all."

The CFA, signed by 10 Nile Basin countries, establishes a framework for collaborative water resource management, promoting equitable access and sustainable development.

This landmark agreement signifies a shift towards a more unified approach to the Nile's resources, fostering regional integration and economic growth.

PM Abiy extended his congratulations to all signatory states for their unwavering commitment to cooperation. He also issued a call to the remaining non-signatory states to join the Nile family, emphasizing the shared goals of development and regional integration.

The entry into force of the CFA is expected to usher in a new era of cooperation and prosperity for the Nile Basin, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
