Ethiopia Ascends to Top Five Global Coffee Producers, Bolstering Economic Prospects

Coffee is one of the world's most sought-after beverages, with billions of cups consumed each day. And there is a long production chain involving farmers across parts of the world, in which Ethiopia is one of the biggest coffee-producing countries.

Ethiopia, known for its quality forest coffee, has joined five of the biggest coffee-producing countries, of which Brazil and China are part.

The fifth-biggest coffee-producing country in the world is Ethiopia, with coffee production reaching 441,000 metric tons, reported TEMPO.CO. today.

Ethiopia contributes 4 percent of worldwide coffee production, and the majority is Arabica coffee, according to the report.

Several parts of Ethiopia are famous for producing coffee, such as Gimbi, Harrar, Jima, Limu, Sidama, and Yirgacheffe.
