Ethiopia’s Greening Program Proves its Commitment to Defend Regional Ecology, Says Foreign Minister

Foreign Ministry of Ethiopia says the green legacy initiative, which Ethiopia has been materializing for the last five years, is a testimony for its commitment to protect regional ecology.

Ministry’s staff along with staff within subordinate institutions planted seedlings at the premises of Addis Ababa Science and Technology where the ministry officially launched this year’s Green Legacy program and summer volunteering programs.

Foreign Minister, Amb. Taye Atske-Selassie, told those gathered to take part in the planting program that the ministry would offer special emphasis to this year's green legacy initiative.

Ethiopia’s GLI is gaining accolades both from local and international friends of environmentalists and climate change advocates.

Amb. Taye called for far organized efforts to push the greening legacy of Ethiopia and reminded that 7.5 billion seedlings are already lined up to for planting in this year’s greening edition.

The green legacy program has been traded to overseas via embassies of Ethiopia paving ways to expand Ethiopia’s greening initiative to other nations-both in the region and distant places.
