Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, has commended the remarkable growth and progress Ethiopia has achieved under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The remarks came during a working visit to Saudi Arabia by a high-level Ethiopian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh and including Foreign Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie and other senior officials.
During the visit, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen delivered a message from Prime Minister Abiy to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations with Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.
In their discussions, Temesgen highlighted Ethiopia's efforts to deepen cooperation with Saudi Arabia in various sectors, including the economy, security, and human resource exchange. He proposed holding a joint commission meeting, finalizing a technical cooperation agreement, and boosting trade and investment ties.
The Ethiopian delegation also briefed Saudi officials on the potential benefits of Ethiopia's legal maritime outlet for the upcoming mining sector boom in the region.
Responding to the discussions, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan praised the remarkable growth and progress Ethiopia has achieved under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's visionary leadership. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he described Ethiopia as a pivotal country for Saudi-Africa relations and emphasized the necessity of cooperation between the two nations across all fields.
The two sides also exchanged views on current regional peace and security issues, underscoring the need for collaboration to promote stability in the wider region.
The positive remarks from Saudi Arabia's top diplomat reflect the international recognition of the reform efforts undertaken by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's administration and the progress made in various sectors of the Ethiopian economy and society.
