Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed earned accolades at the Dubai Climate Conference where experts and world leaders gathered to reach agreements to tackle climate changes.
Dignitaries and heads of states, including former PM of the UK Tony Blair, lauded the green legacy initiative Ethiopia has launched spearheaded by PM Abiy Ahmed.
Ethiopians over the years planted billions of trees across the country and attracted attention from environmentalists and climate advocators.
There PM Abiy Ahmed called on the gathering to champion for proactive responses which he says are keys to spare the plant from catastrophic calamities.
Blair saluted Ethiopia’s green program after he visited the pavilion at the COP28 Green Zone in Dubai—where Ethiopia was portrayed to show its efforts to combat climate changes and food insecurity.

‘What is being witnessed in Ethiopia is beyond imagination’ he said, appreciating the stride of the nation to ‘introduce climate resilient strategies and programs.’
‘The pavilion itself evidently showcased Ethiopia’s commitment, which he says, has started paying off the nation, boosting its farming production and productivity—such as in surplus wheat farming.
Also, Blair added that Ethiopia’s move can have the potential to be scaled up both continentally, and even internationally.
Nigerian State Minister of Environment, Dr Ishaq Salako on his part said Ethiopia has influenced the world through its pavilion it showcased in Dubai, UAE.
He appreciated Ethiopia’s Green legacy Initiative which, he says, has the potential to considerably fight back climate-induced catastrophes.
He added that Ethiopia’s green legacy program can be referred to for further climate friendly projects.
Delegates to the climate conference signed up a landmark declaration calling action to work together on agriculture, food and climate action.
