(EBC; April 3, 2019) - Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed arrived in Jigjiga town of Ethiopian Somali Regional State this afternoon to attend the closing session of the 10th Organizational Congress of the Ethiopian Somali Democratic Party (ESDP).
During its organizational congress over the past two days, the party discussed various agendas and passed decisions.
Accordingly, the party decided that its name be changed from Ethiopian Somali Democratic Party (ESDP) to Somali Democratic Party (SDP). It also resolved that its logo be changed as well.
The party further decided that its statute be amended to make Ethiopians who speak the Somali language eligible for party membership.
The party finally elected members of its central (61) and executive (9) committees; Ahmed Shide and Mustafa Mohammed Omer were reelected chairman and deputy chairman of the party, respectively.
