IFRC hails Ethiopia’s efforts in drought response

(EBC; October 10, 2017) - The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has hailed Ethiopia's efforts in drought response.

President Dr. Mulatu Teshome met with a delegation of the IFRC on Tuesday in Addis Ababa.

The discussions were focused on Ethiopia's response to the drought and the performance of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS).

The President, who is patron of the ERCS, also discussed with the delegation the challenges the society faced and its future plans.

Under Secretary General for Partnerships of IFRC lauded ERCS' efforts in drought response and affirmed the federation's commitment to work collaborate with the society.

Board President of the ERCS, Dr Ahmed Reja, stated that the society has undertaken a tremendous work in drought response particularly in the Afar regional state.

It is expected that the delegation will pay visit to drought affected areas and evaluate the actual performance of the ERCS.
