Ethiopia, Iran underline expansion of trade ties
In the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening direct line of trade, holding trade and industrial exhibition, establishment of communication and banking cooperation and facilitating visits of businessmen between the two countries.
The Ethiopian minister pointed to old background of trade ties between the two countries and expressed his country's readiness and interest to develop ties and economic, trade cooperation with Iran and boosting the presence of Iranian companies in Ethiopia.
The Iranian diplomat had already visited Uganda and Burundi and had discussed strengthening of bilateral relations with their related officials and arrived in Ethiopia on Monday in the last leg of his tour to East of Africa.
Aqa-Jafari also separately met Ethiopian minister of oil and mine as well as director general of the foreign ministry for the Middle East Affairs before meeting trade minister.
He also attended the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa and exchanged views with officials of the union.
The AU officials welcomed continuation and development of cooperation with Iran and underlined the AU readiness to consolidate ties with Tehran.
Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia is the second most populous country of the Africa Continent and is among the oldest independent country of the continent.
