UK Working to Boost Investment Participation in Ethiopia - Ambassador Darren Welch

The United Kingdom is working to strengthen the long-standing bilateral relationship with Ethiopia through increased investment participation, British Ambassador to Ethiopia Darren Welch revealed.

Ambassador Welch stated that Ethiopia and the UK have enjoyed a strong bilateral partnership for many years, characterized by good friendship and robust cooperation during both good and difficult times, underpinned by their historic relationship.

The ambassador noted that the diplomatic ties between the two countries are founded on collaboration, spanning multiple sectors. He indicated that this partnership is currently growing, and the UK has a desire to elevate the relationship to a higher level by further expanding the scope of cooperation.

"Ethiopia will be our major development partner going forward," Ambassador Welch remarked, disclosing that the UK is working to increase its investment inflow into Ethiopia. To facilitate this, he revealed plans to support efforts that improve the ease of doing business and the investment climate in Ethiopia.

The ambassador also highlighted the UK's commitment to strengthening its support for Ethiopia in other development areas, particularly in health, education, and humanitarian affairs.

The UK is one of the few countries that established an embassy in Ethiopia over a century ago, reflecting its status as a long-standing partner. Ethiopia and the UK enjoy robust partnerships in trade, culture, education, and various development sectors.

Beyond their bilateral ties, the two countries also collaborate on global issues of mutual interest, upholding their shared values and interests on the international stage.
