Ethiopia Becomes Model for Food Self- Sufficient Initiatives

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) said Ethiopia is becoming    a model for several African countries and the entire world for its efforts to realizing food self-sufficiency and goal of "End hunger" program.

The UNIDO director made the remark Sunday at an award ceremony hosted by FAO to Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, in Italy, Rome.

PM Abiy received the award for his vision, leadership and commitment to food security and nutrition as well as the pursuit of innovative solutions in wheat farming   in the context of fast-changing and challenging circumstances.

Gerd Müller congratulated Ethiopia and its prime minister, Abiy Ahmed for the great success in the sector of food security as UNIDO shares the common goal of zero hunger.

He pledged UNIDO’s continued support to Ethiopia in its efforts to become food self-sufficient.

He added, “Ethiopia shows that it is possible, with this investment in agriculture and the strong leadership from Abiy Ahmed, to reach zero hunger and food security for the people.”
